                 ISYS1001 Web Development 1
 Assignment 3
ISYS1001 Web Development 1 | Assessment 3 1
Task: Personal Website
Unit Objectives: LO2, LO3, LO4
Due Date: Monday of Week 7, 11:59 pm
Weight: 40%
Must be completed as individuals.
Task Description:
Your task is to create a content management system
(Wordpress) site on the provided webspace. You
should use the Astra theme to style your site and the
Elementor page builder for your page and post
content. Module 5 will help you to understand what is
required to do this. You cannot use any of the built-in
Elementor templates nor any other web-based
templates you can find.
The Wordpress site should be developed at:
12345678.it.scu.edu.au/wp/
where 12345678 is your studentID.
For content, you can choose either to convert the
content from your previous personal site to this site,
or you can start with a different set of content. Either
way, you should use ‘best practice’ throughout when
setting up and developing your WordPress website
as demonstrated in the video content in Module 5.
You need at least three pages of content and an
additional page to explain an area of ethics and
professionalism (Module 6 will explain this
requirement). You should also have at least one post.
Apart from this, you can use this as a creative
exercise. As with Assignment 2, you should be
thinking about the audience you want to reach, and
the look and feel that will best support your
communication. It is YOUR choice of colours, layout
and content, so if you create a suitable site, this can
be used throughout your studies as you will keep this
webspace throughout your study in the BIT.
Marking Criteria:
The rubric for this assignment is available on the
MySCU site and will give the criteria for marking.
Generally, you need to not only concentrate on
getting the installation and configuration of the
website correct, but also think about how you are
presenting the website and how you are
demonstrating your learning. There are two parts of
the marking criteria – the technical competency, and
the level of professional web development shown.
The difference between a “Pass” and higher grades
will be based on:
• How carefully you look at the whole project
and development practices;
• How well you follow best practices while
keeping your website cohesive and
attractive;
• How well you apply your knowledge of
HTML and CSS when configuring your
theme and the elements added to your page
using the page builder.
Getting Help:
This assignment, which is to be completed
individually, is your chance to gain an understanding
of the fundamental concepts of html and css on
which later learning will be based. It is important that
you master these concepts yourself.
Since you are mastering fundamental skills, you are
permitted to work from the examples in the MySCU
site or textbook, but you must acknowledge
assistance from other textbooks or classmates. In
particular, you must not use online material or help
from others, as this would prevent you from
mastering these concepts.
